I don’t usually write hotel reviews unless the stay was superb. Although I only had two nights in Switzerland, I really enjoyed my stay at Alpenrose Hotel and Gardens.
But first, let me show you some photos of what boarding on a proper Swiss train looked like, the one that I enjoyed (not like the crowded one in the previous post)
Alpenrose Hotel and Gardens is a unique, quaint, and charming hotel with its mini water fountain and gardens. If you wish to truly blend in with the natural vibe that this country offers, skip the modern-looking hotels and choose this one instead.
Okay, let me show you my classic and beautiful room
I was so happy that Michelle (my roommate) and I got twin rooms accommodation when in Switzerland. We had some different preferences, so it would be difficult if we shared the same room. The shared bathroom wasn’t a problem, though!
My bedroom and bed were pretty small but since I was petite, I had no problem. Alright, now I’ll bring you on a tour around the hotel

Alpenrose Hotel and Gardens — A Charming Stay in Wilderswil, Switzerland
Not only my bedroom was beautiful, but the interior design of the hotel was also lovely. It was a classic beauty, with every corner ready to charm you.
From the entrance, when you turn to the left, you will see a huge lounge room and a bar. If you keep walking straight, you will reach the first dining room, where people usually have their breakfast.
Beside the dining room, there’s a small door that takes you to another dining room (usually for dinner), the kitchen, and the gardens.
In addition, everyone who worked in Alpenrose Hotel and Gardens was friendly and had an upbeat attitude. I didn’t expect that I would meet two Indonesian fellows in the hotel!
They were interns in the hotel, alongside one Vietnamese guy. Sadly, I forget their names. But I remember one of them was from Bali and the other one was from hmm… sorry, I forget!
They wanted to study hospitality in Switzerland because they aimed to work overseas after graduating. I wish all of them the best
After the conversation, I continued walking around the hotel and visitted the gardens.

Bonus: Lauterbrunnen, Grindelwald, and Interlaken Express Trips
In the previous post, I shared the beauty of Schynige Platte Alpine Garden. Actually, before I went up there, I explored Lauterbrunnen and Grindelwald in the morning.
You can imagine how rushing it was! That’s why I called them ‘express trips’, hehe…
Since I visitted them all in less than one day, I didn’t manage to see many outstanding views like the ones you can find on Google… But that’s ok. I accepted the fact that I joined a budget tour and I enjoyed the trip
Grindelwald was more crowded than Lauterbrunnen because there was a hiking/mountain trailing event. Many people cheered at the roadside whenever there was a hiker pass by.
As for Interlaken, Gareth and I explored the town in the evening of the 1st and 2nd day. On the 1st day, we missed the last train home and wondered where we would sleep
I didn’t want to spend extra money to sleep in Student Hostel beside the train station. Plus, I had a really lovely room in Alpenrose Hotel and Gardens. Tell me, why would I???
As we talked while waiting for the bus (luckily, the buses operated until early morning), I saw a taxi pass by behind Gareth.
“TAXI!!” I stood up from my seat
“WHERE?” Gareth asked
There goes €20 We were fine with it and felt so relieved to reach the hotel safely. But the drama didn’t end there.
When we reached the hotel, it turned out that the entrance door was locked.
WHAAAAAT?? I thought as a hotel, the entrance door would be opened 24/7.
Well, there were two long chairs near the hotel’s entrance door, plus two small fluffy chair covers that only God-knows-when-they-were-last-washed that we could use as blankets. #cringe
I didn’t want to admit defeat. We had come this far, with the taxi and everything. So, I did a super silly thing — I inserted my room key into the entrance door’s keyhole, just to try my luck…
… and it worked.
HOLY S###, IT WORKED!!!!
Gareth and I looked at each other with our jaws dropped, then we laughed happily while entering the hotel.
HOORAAAAAAAYYY
Switzerland, you had been lovely and charming. I like this country and the little, quaint towns.
However, if someone asks if I would spend the rest of my life living there, I need to think hard. I grew up in the city and although I love the scenery, I might get bored fast.
Oh well, we’ll never know where life would take us…
Thank you for reading my blog. So, what do you think of Alpenrose Hotel and Gardens? Would you stay here when you visit Switzerland?
