Vietnam Day Trip: Tam Chuc Pagoda

Hi, friends! I hope you’re doing well so far, it’s already the middle of the month 😁

This week, I’ll take you for a day trip to Vietnam to see Tam Chuc Pagoda, one of the largest pagodas in the world. Prepare your walking shoes, jacket, and hat for the long walk!

I went to see this famous Buddhist temple with my mom and sister.

One of the perks of joining a group tour is you can visit far far away places without having to worry about transportation.

According to Google, it takes around 1 hour and 15 minutes from Hanoi to Tam Chuc Pagoda.

It was a wonderful day trip, a mixture of boat rides, nature, architecture, walking, and A LOT of staircases.

That’s why, when you have the budget, it’s good to have a balance between investing for your retirement and seeing the world.

You may not be able to move as swiftly as when you were young…

After we stepped down off the bus, we were welcomed by a very spacious open area. It was as big as a football field, I guess… Luckily it was cloudy, so the walk was bearable!

Then, we headed into a building for our boat transfer. On the way, there were many sights to see such as a Koi fish pond, murals, and the sea.

We were even served fruits and local snacks in a big hall while waiting for our boat to be ready.

On the Boat to Tam Chuc Pagoda, Vietnam Day Trip

The boat was full because my group tour was mixed with other groups. It was a two-story, classic wooden boat.

If you don’t get a seat, you could stand outside and enjoy the breeze… or sit at a comfy corner where the staff usually make tea, like what I did. I found that corner comfortable 😊🍵🌊

It was a short boat ride, I think it was around 30 minutes only. Since I went to Vietnam in February, the weather was a bit chilly, between 16-21°C.

I stood most of the time during the boat ride to enjoy the view and fresh breeze. I love the sea! The view was beautiful, it looked like a painting 💖

The Beautiful Tam Chuc Pagoda, Vietnam Day Trip

Once I landed in Tam Chuc, the sea was behind me while in front of us were mountains. I visited three pagodas.

The interior looked similar but the area around the pagodas and when I looked carefully, each pagoda had its own design and charm.

If you have knee problems, you may choose to visit only one or two pagodas. Unfortunately, there was no lift in Tam Chuc.

So again, if you have the budget and are in good health, use the chance to see the world!

Not only the pagodas and scenery were beautiful, but the view on the way back to our tour bus was also wonderful.

Luckily, we didn’t have to take the stairs again. There were buggies ready to take visitors back to the starting point, the entrance with the koi fish pond.

My mother, sister, and I really enjoyed the buggy ride. How could we not, when we got a VIP seat at the end of the buggy, with this view?

The only thing that I didn’t like in this Tam Chuc Pagoda, Vietnam trip was the food. We had a buffet lunch at a decent, huge dining hall with other tourists.

It was spacious and there were many varieties of food, but the quality and taste were… not good. The food was edible. I had to force myself to eat so I didn’t get sick.

And when some of us gave feedback to the tour leader, he said that it was the best option for lunch at Tam Chuc. Yes… we only saw a few small food stalls there.

It looked like the only place where people had their lunch. But anyway, I cared more about the view and experience, so it didn’t matter.

I’m not a Buddhist but I feel the pagodas and nature are very beautiful, especially the carvings!

What do you think about this Vietnam day trip to Tam Chuc Pagoda, guys? Will you visit this place? 😊
