Apparently, Your Brain Decides If Your Travel Plan Will Come True

Some people often ask how I can persevere with my lifestyle for the sake of travelling. They may not realise that once the brain has decided, any travel plan will come true.

Once the brain has decided, any travel plan will come true
BUT.
You must make that travel plan A MUST

In 2016, I ate the same food for lunch and skipped dinner for almost a year. Not something I encourage you to follow, though.

In 2017, I wrote as many articles as I could in order to get a big bonus every month. Also, there were pros and cons to this.

In 2018, I had the most short-planned trips of my life. I went on five holidays a year. My social media was full of photos from around the world, so much until a friend asked if I won a jackpot.

In 2019, I realised that I started to age and decided to be more responsible with my finance while still checking out new destinations (LOL…).

Furthermore, I have more expenditure now (including my pledges to some organisations). So, I’m trying to minimise my spending by cooking my own lunch and bringing it to the office every day.

Doesn’t it get boring eating simple, healthy food five days a week? No problemo. I can take that. Because I can see the prize… it’s right there, in front of me.

My 2020 trip. And my 2021 dream trip. #pumpedup

The Power of Your Brain

Back then, I couldn’t put it in words when my friends asked me how I could persevere with the lifestyle. No, it has nothing to do with being one of the most ambitious star signs.

Then, I found the answer from Tony Robbins’ book “Awaken the Giant Within” which I’m still reading.

There’s a very interesting, awakening section that I want to share, especially with those who are struggling to materialise their life-changing decision. Or those who need guidance to make their dream trips happen.

Here it is, taken from page 114:

“The second belief that you and I must have if we’re going to create long-term change is that we’re responsible for our own change, not anyone else…”

  1. We must believe “something must change”
  2. We must not only believe that things must change, but we must believe “I must change it”
  3. We have to believe “I can change it”

Apparently, your brain decides if your travel plan will come true. When you decide that it’s a must, you’ll find many ways to Rome.

Your Dreams Save You From Going Autopilot

2020 and 2021 are still a long way to go.

Are they?

I’m already halfway to winning the battle for my 2020 trip. By the end of the year, I’ll be able to pay for the ground tour and prepare the pocket money.

And since it’s almost the end of October, January will be the starting point of my battle for the 2021 trip. One year isn’t that bad, though.

It takes me one year or more because the destinations that I chose are far, far away. Yet, I refuse to switch the destinations to somewhere nearby or more affordable because they’re not what I’m dreaming of.

It’s a long way to achieve my dream trips, but I can see them. They’re there, in front of me…

The mundane routine of work-gym-weekend-repeat? Bring it on. My dreams save me from going on autopilot.

What about you? Is there something that you always dream of, but think it’s too big or impossible to achieve?

Perhaps, you must stop thinking about the “what ifs” and start doing.

After all, at least you’ve tried 🙂

please teach me how to plan my travel properly, Clara. I often find it complicated and exhausting when I think about where I should travel and how to get there financially 🙁

Hi Revan… mine may not suit everyone.

Usually, I’ll follow a tour which provides plenty of free time. So it saves me time to arrange the accommodation while still gives me the freedom to explore the destination myself (read more here: https://agirlnamedclara.com/things-people-got-wrong-joining-tours/)

Otherwise, I like to hire a private driver+guide so I can go anywhere I want without having to worry about transportation (I did this for my Bali and Sri Lanka trip).

About how to finance the trip, I usually start to save 1 year before the-Day (for non-Asia destination). Budgeting is very important. Every month, put aside some money for your travel goal and STICK with it 🙂 Take a part time job if you need to materialize the dream trip. Hope it helps 🙂
