Hola, amigos! I’m so happy to know that many enjoy reading my previous blog post about Chefchaouen, Morocco.
It is my pleasure to share what I have seen and experienced. I will share with you another part of Morocco in the next blog post.
This time, I feel like sharing a personal view of life. If you have any opinions, please do not hesitate to comment. I’d like to hear and learn from you đŸ™‚
Embrace the Silence and Listen to Your Inner Self
I don’t know why I’m here and what I’m doing with my life.
I guess it always occurs to me when December arrives. This sentimental feeling of life and the existential purpose…
What about you? Is it just me or does anyone out there feel the same?
Next month I’ll be 29 and I don’t have other specific goals besides my 2020 travel plan.
However, been reading a lot about meditation, energy healing and Bible In One Year, I learned to embrace silence and listen to my inner monologue and eventually, I think I get the answer.
The Late Twenties Crisis
Since I’m not a very career-minded person, the purpose of me still breathing and alive in this world besides traveling is to take care of my family and show compassion.
To be kind to others. Including animals and nature.
To view that certain things happened for me, not to me.
That there’s a reason why my path crossed with others – to help us grow and become better.
And how God (or the Universe, if you choose so) will deliver me from distress when I persevere, be patient, surrender to Him and constantly think positively.
The Power of Manifestation
Taking action + pray + positive thinking + manifestation = success
I just realised that almost every day I pray and manifest for my travel plan to come true.
“I will go to (insert country)”
“There’ll be enough money for the trip”
“God, please let me obtain the visa and go to (insert country)”
And so far, they do – except for Israel.
Such an irony because I really want to set foot in Jerusalem. But I now know that the delay is a blessing in disguise (I prefer not to share it here). It’s a delay, not never…
By the way, being a parent, my dad is wondering why I’m still single (again, this year) after so many trips.
Perhaps I should manifest love too!
On Arts and Religions
Being a wanderlust who loves art, it never occurs to me that one day I would have a doubt about a piece of particular music because of my faith.
I have no problem embracing the beauty of Muslim-inspired arts like the ones I encountered in Turkey and Morocco.
When I was young, I listened to Too Phat, a Malaysian hip-hop duo and enjoyed all of their songs, especially “Alhamdulillah“. I feel the lyrics and the song are beautiful.
Last month, when I was in a car with my friend, he turned on a song that soon captivated me: “Moola Mantra” by Deva Premal and Miten.
Some people love it, some do not. To me, every time I listen to the song, I immediately feel at peace.
The song calms me down whenever I feel stressed or sad. It helps me to concentrate better when I need to finish a task. It’s a meditation song.
However… “Moola Mantra”, even though it’s a mantra (wrapped in music) to ask for protection and freedom from all sorrow from God, is a mantra of Hindu Gods.
Even though in the mantra there’s no mention of Hindu Gods, is it wrong to listen to the song and chant the mantra?
I finally found the answer, that I feel is right for me, today.
Just when I was about to write this blog post, I saw a video of a famous Indonesian choir, The Resonanz Children’s Choir and the ending struck me.
One of the members of the choir who sings the Christian song is a Muslim girl with a hijab.
The 30th European Grand Prix for Choral Singing (2018) winner often sings Christian songs, yet this girl proves that as long as your heart stays with your chosen God, music is music.
“The Heavenly Aeroplane” even mentions “Jesus” (specific God), while “Moola Mantra” isn’t mentioning any specific God.
Therefore, I may interpret the God mentioned in the “Moola Mantra” song as the God I praise.
Hayya nab’idil karaha – Let’s avoid the hated and hatred
Hari om tat sat – God is the truth
My 2020 Resolution
My 2020 resolution is very simple.
To have an upgrade in my career, to love myself and others more, to travel the world.
So… have you made your 2020 resolution?
If you have no idea what to manifest, perhaps you can start embracing the silence and listening to your inner self to find the answer.
