Hi, guys! This week, let me take you to the beautiful Krka National Park and Trogir day trip from Split, Croatia β¨β¨β¨
If you’re a fan of Game of Thrones, visiting Split will be worth it because there are buses and local tour operators that will take you on day trips around Croatia.
So, you wouldn’t fly from far, far away just to see the filming location but it’s also easy to arrange day trips from the city π
Split itself isn’t that big, especially if you stay near what used to be the Diocletian Palace. For the Krka National Park and Trogir day trip from Split, actually I booked the tour online.
Only later I found out that the meeting point is near the Split giant sign, in front of the local tour shop, Sugaman. The tour departs very early in the morning, at 8:15 am.
What if I’m bringing my luggage because I can’t check into my accommodation before the tour?
That’s what happened to me. Don’t worry! You can put your luggage safely on the bus. Just don’t forget to take it at the end of the tour, hehe!
Blending with the Nature in Krka National Park, Croatia
Talking about national parks in Croatia, usually people will visit Plitvice Lakes National Park, which takes around 2 hours and 30 minutes drive from Split.
However, if you don’t have a lot of time, Krka National Park day trip from Split can be a good option since it only takes around 1 hour and 11 minutes.
Nearby the starting point, there are small houses. In one of them, you can read about the Krka hydroelectric power plant.
Did you know that after Nikola Tesla built the hydroelectric power plant in Niagara Falls, two days later he built another one in Krka National Park? The one in this national park is Europe’s first hydroelectric power plant!
And the first Croatian city whose streetlights were powered by it was… Sibenik!π‘π‘π‘
Alright, remember to go to the toilet before you start your relaxing walk in Krka National Park. Also, don’t forget to take some photos of the small waterfall near the toilet π€³πΈπ
Important note: Krka National Park isn’t big, you can finish the relaxing walk in 30 minutes. So, take your time to enjoy the surroundings πΏπβοΈ
Exploring Krka National Park feels like a relaxing walk in the jungle. There’s a wide, wooden boardwalk, so you can explore the park comfortably.

It won’t be too hot because you’re surrounded by trees. However, I went there during spring, so a hat and comfortable walking shoes would be good.
As for me, I wanted to look good in the photos so I wore a dress. It turned out I wasn’t the only one ππ

On the way, you’ll see a steep road where you can admire the main waterfalls in Krka National Park closely. There were wooden barriers to protect tourists from falling off the cliff.
As a short girl, it’s not easy to take good photos or selfies in this spot, especially when it’s crowded. But don’t worry!
When you reach the end of the boardwalk, you’ll have plenty opportunities to take beautiful photos near the main waterfalls, like these:
Tired walking and need some refreshments? At the end of the boardwalk, there are some souvenir shops and cafes. If you’re a gym person, there’s even a stall that sells various protein drinks!

Okay, now you must be thinking, “Do I have to walk back to the bus stop?”
Although I’d love to, but sadly no! We must board a small boat and have a short cruise to the other side of the park, where the tourist buses are waiting.
Make sure that you choose a medium-size boat, like this boat. My tour leader said that boarding this boat is better. And keep your hat safe, otherwise the wind will blow it away!

A Quick Lunch Stop in Skradin, Croatia
The tour guide surprised us with an extra stop in Skradin! We had around one hour in this small town for lunch.
She said it was better to have lunch here than in the Krka National Park. At first I wanted to explore the town quickly, but there seemed nothing much to see there.
So I took some photos and found a cute cafe for lunch. Finally, I found a place in Croatia where I could spend around 10 euros for a meal π€§πβ¨
My beautiful and juicy grilled chicken breast in Skradin cost 12 euros. It was huge and I was running out of time, so I only ate half of it and packed the rest for dinner.
Next stop: Trogir!

Trogir Day Trip from Split, Croatia: What to See and Eat
Joining this Trogir day trip from Split is worth it because it turned out to be one of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites!
The number one to see in Trogir is the Trogir Cathedral, located at the Old Town Square. Then, St.Lawrence Cathedral, Kamerlengo Castle aka the fortress, and the promenade!
St.John of Trogir is the patron saint of this town, you can see his statue everywhere.
At the top of the entrance of St.Lawrence Cathedral, you could see the statue of St.Lawrence in which he’s holding a grill. What’s the story behind it?
After Pope St.Sixtus II was killed, the greedy, evil prefect of Rome asked St.Lawrence to hand over the church’s treasure.
The evil prefect of Rome: “Give me all of the church’s treasure!” π
St.Lawrence: “Please give me three days to gather the treasure.”π
During that period, St.Lawrence worked hard to distribute the treasure to the poor and needy. On the third day…
The evil prefect of Rome: “I’ve come for the treasure! Muahahahha…” πππ
St.Lawrence opened the church’s door. Then he said, “Here’s the treasure of the church…” ππππ
Stood behind him were the crippled, widows, poor, and blind people, filling up the church.
The evil prefect of Rome: “WTF???!!” π€―π€―π€―
The prefect was furious, he prepared a gridiron with hot coals beneath it and ordered St.Lawrence to be grilled to death.
After some time, St.Lawrence, who was known for having a good sense of humour, told his prosecutor, “I’m well done on this side. Turn me over!”
Because of this incident, St.Lawrence becomes the patron saint of cooks, comedians, poor people, school children, and more.
Poor saint… He must be in a lot of pain πππ

I enjoyed exploring this town, especially its beautiful Venetian architecture and promenade (a street full of restaurants overlooking the sea).
In Croatia (and some European countries), it’s common for the locals to order a cup of coffee and sit for two hours, just admiring the sea and looking at passers-by.
I finally understood the joy of doing this when I was in Croatia βππ

The weather is windy in April, especially near the sea. Make sure you don’t wear a light dress or you’ll have to keep holding it so the wind won’t expose your undies – like I did!
Okay… there’s a problem when you want to look good in the photos but the wind is too strong. In the future, I will… wear nice underwear to feel less embarrassed.
Ahahahhahha πππ
Alright, foodies! This is what you should eat when travelling to Trogir, Croatia: rafioli!
Nope, it’s not that ravioli aka stuffed pasta but rafioli, a traditional snack in Trogir. Trogirski rafioli looks like a dumpling filled with ground almonds.
Now there are chocolate, matcha, strawberry, and many other flavours to choose from besides almond.
However, the similarity of both names seems legit, maybe because there’s a Venetian influence in this town? Sorry, I’m not sure!π€
Alright, I hope you enjoy our Krka National Park and Trogir day trip from Split, Croatia. Have a wonderful week ahead βοΈβοΈβοΈ
