Some things happened last week but this blog post won’t be melancholy. I’ll let you know at the end of the article, okay?
Meanwhile, let me take you to San Marino, a country on top of a hill, nearby Italy. I spent one day there and although it was short, the medieval old town and its cobblestone streets will charm you.
Before I embarked on my Italy trip, I wished that I would bump into Valentino Rossi, especially in San Marino. It didn’t happen but I had so much fun!
The Lady and the Valley of San Marino
Not sure why I feel poetic when writing this post! I like the header title above ahaha… excuse me if it sounds lame 😛
Maybe because the cobblestone feels so vintage and romantic… You’ve seen the photo of the valley above, but here are more pictures of the lush valley of San Marino.
The Colors of San Marino – White and Blue
Yup! The official colors of San Marino are white and blue, just like the country’s flag. However, the country doesn’t look like Santorini. It’s more like, you’ll see small details in white and blue. Such as…

San Marino, a Pet-Loving Country
I’ve never seen so many people taking their pets out in other cities in Italy. I’m not sure if there’s a pet-related event going on, but I met many adorable dogs when I travelled to San Marino.
Live Cooking Demo/Competition in San Marino
I was so lucky that there was an interesting event when I was there. I saw a big crowd gathering near a stage, so I walked closer. Apparently, there’s a live cooking demo/competition.
Not bad for a one-day trip, to experience this (yes, I love food)!
The chef cooked something and gave each audience a sample of what she cooked. It’s beef and asparagus, tasted fresh and delicious!
San Marino One Day Trip: What’s Interesting
There are another few things that make San Marino interesting. Like, I had a funny experience when using their toilet. There’s a bathroom sink with a water tab but no knob or button!

Okay, that’s it! My splendid, one-day trip to San Marino. If you’re wondering which affordable group tour that I usually join, it’s Expat Explore (this isn’t a paid post).
Also… as promised, here’s what happened last week in Catching Up with Clara (lol…):
- I’m no longer in a relationship – it’s a difficult decision but it happened
- I did my annual health screening + breast ultrasound. I have a tiny lump with serious level 3, so I need to monitor it closely
- I’m more worried if any procedure will be clashing with my next trip (when the borders are opened) LOLOL…
- Raya and the Last Dragon is amazing – beware of food cravings after watching it (I literally had Vietnamese food for lunch the next day!)
Amigos amigas, grà zie for reading this blog post. I hope it inspires you to include San Marino in your Italy trip, or as for now, brighten your day.
If you’re a female, remember to do a breast ultrasound every year because preventing is better than regretting it! Stay healthy and keep travelling 🙂

I was raised in the Republic of San Marino from the age of 8 to 15 years old. It was a great up bringing.
Learned alot of culture.

Hi Mauro, thank you for sharing. That’s good, I’m happy for you! Could you share with me the culture of San Marino? I didn’t encounter much during my day trip.
