Hi, friends! Today, let me take you on a slow travel on a rainy day in Hvar, Croatia. I’m so in the mood to write this blog post because… last weekend was HOT, HOT, HOT in Malaysia π₯΅βοΈπ
One of the beautiful days I had in Croatia was surprisingly… a rainy day in Hvar. For the first time in my life, I was present on a rainy day – relaxed on the sofa and did nothing.
Just watched the rain poured down, enjoyed the breeze, and listened to the music… If I were at home or work, I would be in front of my laptop or busy doing other things.

PLUS, the weather on that day in Hvar was chilly and windy, a total opposite of what I’m feeling now in Malaysia. Okay, now you know why I chose to write this blog post.
If you’re reading this on a hot day somewhere in the world, I hope the photos can cool you down (mentally), hehe π¬οΈπ¬οΈπ¬οΈ
The Joy of Slow Travel in Hvar, Croatia

Two weeks ago, I wrote about wine tasting at a UNESCO protected site in Stari Grad, Croatia. Actually, Stari Grad is part of Hvar Island.
This island has two towns, Hvar and Stari Grad. Both towns are small and can be explored in less than a day.
However, Hvar is bigger than Stari Grad and you can have a good, comfortable walk up to the Spanish Fortress.
During lunch, my tour leader, Klara, reminded us in advance that things were very expensive in Hvar, Croatia.
Upon hearing that, I tried to finish my three-course included lunch so I could spend less on dinner π

It’s not a joke, guys… Croatia is an expensive travel destination. Even my Croatian colleague said he had never been to Hvar or island-hopping in his home country because it was very expensive.
He also said that his family would rather travel to another European country for holidays π

So yeah, during my Croatian island hopping cruise trip, sometimes I would eat snacks for dinner to save money. The next morning, I made sure to eat enough protein, vegetables, and fruits during breakfast.

The wind was blowing heavily when the cruise headed to Hvar, Croatia. I was worried it would be raining by the time we docked and I couldn’t explore the town.
Luckily, when we arrived after lunch, we were greeted by the sun! Hooraaay!! βοΈβοΈβοΈ
Klara took the group to the Spanish Fortress. It was a comfortable hike, but I suggest you wear comfortable shoes or at least, hiking sandals.

My Zara Kids’ sandals were fine, but they weren’t comfortable enough for hiking on cobblestone streets in Hvar, Croatia.
The group and I chose not to enter the Spanish Fortress (there’s a fee) and just enjoyed the view. After that, I went separate ways with the group to explore the town and take some photos.
I was worried the sky would be gloomy and rain again. So, while the sun was still shining, I quickly went off.

The Joy of Enjoying the Rain in Hvar, Croatia

After taking some photos and checking out some restaurants for dinner (which I wouldn’t go to because even a plate of calamari started from 18 euros), suddenly, it started to rain.
It was good that Hvar was a small town because I could run and enter my cruise before the rain became heavier.

The rain lasted for quite some time. I went to my room to put my bag and camera, grabbed a jacket, and sat in the lounge.
Nicole was already there, covering herself with a blanket and sleeping peacefully.
A rainy moment on the cruise in Hvar, Croatia… I saw giant droplets on the shades. I saw beautiful, violent waves of the Adriatic Sea.

After the rain had stopped, I walked to explore the other side of the town, took some photos, and explored the alleys to check out more restaurants.

But then I decided to buy a pastry for dinner from a bakery because I didn’t feel that hungry. It was a spicy chicken pastry. Crispy on the outside, warm on the inside. Yummy~
Ah… the rain started to fall again. Luckily, my tummy was already full…

After finishing my snack, I walked back to the cruise and slept early π΄π΄π΄ #beautysleep
