Cuti-cuti Malaysia: Kuala Selangor and Sekinchan

Last weekend, I went for a day trip to Kuala Selangor and Sekinchan. That was my second visit but I never get bored with cuti-cuti Malaysia visiting those destinations! If you haven’t heard or been there, Kuala Selangor and Sekinchan are small towns on the west coast of Malaysia. They’re famous for fresh seafood, lush scenery, paddy field, mirror lake and fireflies boat ride. From KL to Kuala Selangor it takes around 1.5 hours by car, and from Kuala Selangor to Sekinchan is just around 30 minutes. They are far far away from the city but the highway is smooth and the scenery is lush – so you’re up for…

God, Why Me? Have a Break at Kenny Hills Bakers Ampang

If you’re reading this, I hope you’re well. I didn’t update the blog last week because I had nothing in mind that I felt was worth it to share. But I do now, especially after a well-deserved break at Kenny Hills Bakers 🙂 No, this isn’t a food review post. The previous blog, which I shared my vulnerabilities, was surprisingly received a well-response. I thought nobody would care. But turned out, some of them were feeling the same! God, Why Me? ‘…in all things God works for the good of those who love him…’ Romans 8:28 Last week, a lot of things happened to me at the same time. I…

Other Things to See in Toraja Besides Ke’te Kesu and Londa

There are three main reasons why most people intrigued to visit Toraja, Indonesia: Ke’te Kesu, Londa and the funeral ceremonies. But actually, there are other wonderful things to see when you’re there! I could write a lot of blog posts about Toraja but there won’t be a lot to read as some of them are short visits. Or perhaps it’s I who want to finish writing about Toraja (hint: look at the Countries page, there are many places that I haven’t written about). Ok, without further ado, here are some places or things that you shouldn’t miss when in Toraja, Sulawesi, Indonesia: The Erotic Mountain at Buntu Kabobong, Bambapuang Because…

Khantoke Dinner vs Khao Soi, Which Northern Thai Food Do You Prefer?

I haven’t been to Bangkok but I’ve been to the Northern parts of Thailand, Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai. During the trip, I had two memorable dining experience: Khantoke Dinner and Cultural Show & Khao Soi. As I thought to skip updating the blog, suddenly I was (and still) craving for Khao Soi, thus the inspiration for this week’s blog post, hehe! :p Khantoke Dinner and Cultural Show in Chiang Mai As most of us know, a trip to Thailand is incomplete without food hunting. The street food is delicious, however, don’t shy away from traditional, cultural dining experience when you visit Chiang Mai. Khantoke Dinner allows you to sample…

Палкинъ – Palkin, Where You Can Find the Best Beef Stroganoff in St. Petersburg

The Coronavirus quarantine really makes me miss travelling. Hence, my past travel photos come to the rescue! The further the country is, the better it is mending my travel bug bites. Some foods are better eaten on the spot than to be delivered, really… this inspired me to write about Палкинъ (Palkin), an amazing restaurant in St. Petersburg, Russia, where you can find the best beef stroganoff. Beef stroganoff is one of Russian traditional dishes, made of strips of beef and mushroom in a creamy sauce. The dish is served with potato, rice or noodles. If you’re a fan of carbonara or creamy dishes, it’s a must-try when in Russia!…

Sorry Santa, I Ate Your Reindeer at Lappi Restaurant, Finland Before Christmas

Approaching the end of the year, the weather in Malaysia is hot and cold. Well, often cold as I’m sitting in the office with AC most of the time! As I walked passed by in Pasar Seni Kuala Lumpur a few days ago, I could see Christmas decorations in some of the shops. Oh, it’s almost that time of the year again! The cold weather and festive season remind me of my one-day experience in Helsinki, Finland, back in 2017. It was my first time in Finland and first-and-last experience trying reindeer meat at the famous Lappi Restaurant. Sorry Santa, I ate your reindeer at Lappi, Finland, before Christmas and…

I’m Not Snobbish, Here’s Why I Avoid Jakarta

If you think by earning Ringgit you’ll live like kings/queens in Jakarta, you’re wrong. On top of the surprise, be prepared to sit for hours in the car thanks to the traffic jam. My aunties and uncles often ask me why I seldom return home, don’t I miss the food and so on. As someone who has only 14 days of annual leave, I choose my travel destination wisely and the capital city of Indonesia is, to be honest, a place I avoid. Don’t get me wrong. I’m from Jakarta and with the statement above, I hope you won’t think I’m snobbish. I just prefer to use my annual leave…
