Spending most of my time at home affects my mood and creativity. While looking at my travel photo album searching for inspiration, the memories of Rockbar and the luxury spa at AYANA Resort & Spa, Bali made me happy. Why? The top two reasons are: The situation back then is very in contrast with what’s happening today! Now, Ringgit is 3x stronger than Rupiah. I’m worried about my personal finance after the salary cut. I’m counting the days until the end of August, crossing my fingers that I’ll be able to travel abroad (I’ve paid for the trip in full). I may have a few things to worry about but…

Khantoke Dinner vs Khao Soi, Which Northern Thai Food Do You Prefer?
I haven’t been to Bangkok but I’ve been to the Northern parts of Thailand, Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai. During the trip, I had two memorable dining experiences: Khantoke Dinner and Cultural Show & Khao Soi. As I thought to skip updating the blog, suddenly I was (and still) craving for Khao Soi, thus the inspiration for this week’s blog post, hehe! π Khantoke Dinner and Cultural Show in Chiang Mai As most of us know, a trip to Thailand is incomplete without food hunting. The street food is delicious, however, don’t shy away from the traditional, cultural dining experience when you visit Chiang Mai. Khantoke Dinner allows you to…

The Day I Gatecrashed a Graduation Party in Turkey
Turkey was my first overseas solo trip in 2014 and I had so much fun. I never thought that on the first night I would gatecrash a graduation party! But before we go to that, I want to make a declaration. Turkish people are very warm and friendly! In fact, if you’re small like me, you may get quite a lot of attention – be it from men or women. And then, they will ask you to take photos together! I’m not sure why. Perhaps they fancy petite girls? Or feel tall when standing beside me? Hehe! Ok, back to the story of me being a gatecrasher. It was the…

Bajirao Mastani, an Award-winning Bollywood Movie for Lockdown Leisure
I seldom watch Bollywood movies. But if you’re free during the lockdown, I highly recommend “Bajirao Mastani”, an award-winning Indian movie that will mesmerise you for 158 minutes. “Kuch Kuch Hota Hai” was the only Indian movie that I watched in my teenage years and it left a very good impression of Indian movies on me. #90skid #shahrukhkan After that, I didn’t watch any Indian movies until the lockdown. Now that I have more free time than ever, suddenly I thought of watching something different. I remembered the trip to India that I cancelled because of the unrest in Kashmir… So, I googled the best Bollywood movie and Bajirao Mastani…

A Stranger in Moscow
A rainy day reminded me of Moscow back in 2018 and one of my favourite Michael Jackson songs, “Stranger in Moscow”. After the 4-hour bullet train ride from St.Petersburg to Moscow, my tour group was welcomed by a heavy storm and 4ΒΊC weather. However, the weather didn’t stop us to explore the city, especially the Red Square thus we continued with the walking tour #dedication During the tour, the song “Stranger in Moscow” kept playing in my head. I feel it’s beautiful and emotional… although up until now I don’t remember the lyrics. One thing I knew, I was cold! Even when it was raining heavily and the wind pierced…

Galentine’s Day at Sea Rock Villa, Bentota, Sri Lanka
It’s the lovey-dovey month again (yes, FEBRUARY) and the sky has been gloomy these days. Come on, we need sunshine to welcome Valentine’s day! In February 2019, I went to Sri Lanka for a 6 days solo trip and enjoyed it to the max. The travel agent arranged a one-night stay at Sea Rock Villa, Bentota before my last day and I found myself thinking, “Yes! I deserved this!”. Bentota is a resort town with clean, private beaches, comfortable resorts and is less packed. It’s a contrast to Hikkaduwa, which is as busy as Kuta (Bali). If you’re thinking to have Valentine’s Day trip to Sri Lanka with your bae,…

I Made Chiang Mai as My First Thailand Trip… Though It May Be Unethical
A lot of people rave about Thailand, especially Bangkok and its paradise islands. I had enough of people telling me that I should go to Thailand, so I did, in 2018. However, instead of Bangkok or Hua Hin (the Thai Santorini-style destination), I chose Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai as my first Thailand trip. I know, I know. I will visit Bangkok one day, don’t worry. But if you haven’t travelled to Chiang Mai, now I’m telling you that you should :p I was browsing Thailand tour packages when I found the Chiang Mai trip. And the main reason that tickled my wanderlust soul was the Long Neck Tribe Village.…
