Turning Alberobello Into a Runway

Happy New Year, friends! πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰ I did some decluttering before the NYE, what about you? 😊 This week, let me take you to Alberobello in southern Italy!

I went to Alberobello last year and intentionally dressed up all red for the visit. This charming and unique little town captured my interest when I saw Dolce & Gabbana’s 2023 fashion show from a magazine.

I was mesmerised by the trulli aka white stone huts with grey, cone-shaped roofs. Alberobello looked like a small village in a fairytale!

The magazine showed photos of models wearing amazing dresses and walking in the alley.

Some of them looked even more stunning because of their bold colour outfits, which stood out among the white and grey trulli! 🀩🀩🀩

I felt it was good to wear all white, all black, or all red when in Alberobello. But since I was petite and the colour of the huts was white, I finally decided to wear all red to make me stand out in the photosπŸ’ƒ

For the shoes, I chose Clarks with mini, square-shaped heels so I could explore the town comfortably since the road was made of cobbled stone and was hilly.

Alberobello, a Charming UNESCO World Heritage Site

Alas, when the bus reached Alberobello, it was lightly rained. But since it was a group tour, we had to go on so we could return to the hotel on time.

I was worried the rain would turn heavier as we walked, so I didn’t bring my Canon. Imagine dressing up for this UNESCO World Heritage Site and not taking photos with DSLR! 😣

Then, not long after we reached the square, the rain stopped. Oh, well… At least my tour guide gave me thumbs-up for wearing all red πŸ˜‚πŸ™πŸ’–

Alberobello was located in Apulia, southern Italy. It was dubbed as one of the most beautiful villages in Italy πŸ’―πŸ’―πŸ’―

Trulli were built in 1481 using only stones, without mortars, so they could be easily destroyed. They were small, had low ceilings, and had the same height.

When you’re in a UNESCO World Heritage Site, your main focus should be on the history. If you travel to Alberobello alone, hiring a private guide or joining a walking tour is worth it.

It won’t take long, maybe around 1-1.5 hours. Plus, you could go inside a trullo to see what it looks like! We went into a trullo managed by a local family and listened to the host’s story.

Next, of course, explore the neighbourhood and take many nice photos!

While exploring Alberobello, drop by some souvenir shops. They sell cute, handmade souvenirs and high-quality olive oil!

There’s a church on top, so prepare your stamina to walk uphill for a bit!

If you’re not into churches, there are cafes with a good vibe near the church. It’s your chance to sip Italian coffee in a UNESCO World Heritage Site!

If you have an extra budget, you can book a trullo and stay for maybe one night in this charming town. I’m not sure about the price but I guess it’s not within my budget!

Also, since you’ve reached Alberobello, drop by Matera, another city famous for its maze-like, ancient town Sassi. The houses there were built in the 10th millennium BC.

Try not to get lost when you explore Sassi on your own!

Alright guys, our Alberobello trip ends here. I hope you enjoyed reading this blog post and have a prosperous and joyful 2025! β˜€οΈβ˜€οΈβ˜€οΈ
