Weekend? What weekend?
Ok, we may not be in a strict lockdown anymore. But with working from home for almost one year, plus the interstate travel ban (in Malaysia), the weekend feels like any other day.
Nothing special, except that we don’t need to work. What about you? Do you feel the same?
Recently, I found my enthusiasm for the weekend back and I feel it’s a good idea to share the tricks ^ ^
Lockdown Weekend Tips #1: Take Social Media Break every Friday
Actually, I found out about this trick thanks to the Lent season. 40 Days before Easter, Catholics and Christians will fast to commemorate the day when Jesus rose from the dead.
As I’ve started going to the gym again, I choose to abstain from social media instead of meat (I need protein to feed my muscle). To top it off, I also abstain from reading comics.
I did it last Friday and found out that I gained some benefits, such as:
- My eyes weren’t as tired as usual because I didn’t stare at the screen too much
- When I’m bored, I walked back and forth inside my house = good for the body
- It built the anticipation for Saturday, to see all the notifications!
Lockdown Weekend Tips #2: Watch One Episode of TV Series
I know it sounds crazy because WHO can resist binge-watching TV series?? But I had to and it turned out, this trick spiced up my weekend.
Again, I found out about this trick by coincidence. Thanks to The Penthouse: War in Life season 2 which aired every Friday and Saturday, my weekends do feel like weekends.
YAAAAAY!!!
Being a very popular TV series, each episode will make your blood boils and stir your emotion. Plus, as it’s aired in Korea every Friday and Saturday, I can only stream it (with English subtitles) the next day – Saturday and Sunday.
Perfect for the weekend!
If you can’t control yourself from binge-watching, I suggest you pick a TV series that’s still ongoing so you don’t spend hours in front of your laptop. It will make your neck and shoulder stiff. Don’t do it!

Lockdown Weekend Tips #3: Makeover Your Old Clothes
I was browsing my wardrobe when I saw a very old t-shirt. This is the shirt that I wore to Bali for the first time, and I had so many happy memories with it.
Initially, I wanted to donate this t-shirt. But then I saw my friend posted her makeover shirt on Facebook, so I decided to do the same.
To makeover your shirt, you will need:
- A ruler
- Fabric scissors
- White colour pencil
I was so happy. It became a pretty cool t-shirt for clubbing!! π
P.S.: Wear more proper clothes when you go to the airport to avoid suspicion. When I landed at the Ngurah Rai Airport, the officers questioned me and demanded to check what was inside my luggage.
Lockdown Weekend Tips #4: Try a New Food or Restaurant
Even if it’s your favourite restaurant, I’m sure there are some dishes that you haven’t tried.
Or you could go by country, for example, this weekend it would be Italian and Mexican food. Next weekend would be Vietnamese and Indonesian food.
And with tip #4, by all means, please dine in at the restaurant! It doesn’t feel the same with takeaways π
Alright, there you go! I hope these tips help to spice up your weekend. Thank you for reading and have a great week ahead~
