Janda Baik Day Trip: The Pineyard and Pinto Coffee

Feeling bored with your weekend routine? Then head for a change of scenery at The Pineyard and Pinto Coffee for a day trip!

Located in Janda Baik, Bentong, these two cafes are surrounded by forests, mountains, and cool weather. Since the location is just below Genting Highlands, make sure that you bring a jacket, fill your car tank full and check if your car is in a good condition.

There are two ways to reach Kampung Janda Baik (translation: The Nice Widow’s VillageπŸ˜‚) β€” the new highway and the old road.

If you’re going there in the morning or afternoon, I suggest you take Jalan Lama Bentong aka the Bentong Old Road as it takes you to a long, winding road in the middle of the forest, with beautiful views.

Embrace the rawness of nature, see beautiful mountains and even meet some monkeys! Don’t worry, the old road is well maintained.

Usually, people use the old Bentong road for jogging, cycling, big motorbike touring, or skipping the highway fee (around RM6-8). But it’s winding and a bit narrow, so drive slowly and carefully.

However, please don’t use the old road after 6pm because according to the locals who stay nearby, the forest isn’t a safe place after that time.

There are some paranormal incidents like people kept passing the same road and couldn’t find a way out, saw ‘someone’, felt something pulled his car backward, people went missing, etc…

If something abnormal happens, pray loudly and keep on praying.

Also, if it’s raining heavily, opt for the new road to avoid landslides. Or pick another day to go, to be safe.

The Pineyard, Janda Baik, Bentong

It was raining from 12pm to 7pm when I went there last weekend, so the weather was chilly β€” which was perfect for hot drinks β˜•πŸ΅πŸ°

If you’re looking for a comfortable and trendy cafe, The Pineyard is one of the coolest cafes in Kampung Janda Baik.

It’s surrounded by pine trees and offers a minimalist, modern wooden cabin vibe.

I have eaten my lunch beforehand and reached there around tea time. So, when I reached there, the queue was long.

As a result, I only took some photos without having a chance to sample any food or drink at The Pineyard.

Pinto Coffee, Janda Baik, Bentong

Pinto Coffee is just a few kilometers away from The Pineyard, located on top of a hill. There’s a small, inclining road for 2-ways (in and out). It offers a rustic, traditional wooden cabin vibe.

Their avocado coffee is nice. Personally, the cakes in Pinto Coffee don’t look appetising to me. I feel this Janda Baik cafe is good if you just want to have a drink in the middle of the forest.

If you want to eat, The Pineyard has more selections and the foods look more appealing. But please be noted, I haven’t tried any dessert at Pinto Coffee. I may be wrong.

Some people come to Kampung Janda Baik, Bentong, early morning for breakfast. Alternatively, you can grab your lunch before having your dessert, coffee or tea here.

I had my lunch before the Bentong day trip. It’s a long ride, so fill your tummy and bring a water bottle in case you feel thirsty.

I departed to The Pineyard and Pinto Coffee around 2:30pm from Kuala Lumpur. If you wish to do a cafe-hopping in the Janda Baik area, it’s better to go there in the morning.

Since you’re already in Bentong, maybe you can also drop by at Genting 😊
