Marhaba!
I went to Morocco in 2015 but a few months before that, I decided to watch the Sex & the City 2 movie (I know I was five years too late!).
Coincidentally, the second movie is filmed in Morocco! The entire movie had my jaws dropped and my eyes sparkled at how fabulous those women looked.
I mean, the four of them walking into a room with THAT fashion sense will make any head turns.
Therefore, inspired by the movie, I opened my wardrobe and mix ‘n match my clothes carefully so I would look at least 10% as fab as those women for my Moroccan trip.
Of course, my humble wardrobe, non-designer clothes and modest accommodation will never match the glitz of the movie scenes.
However, ever since that day, I found the activity helps me to relax and sparks joy. Like a form of meditation.
If Marie Kondo finds joy in rearranging, I find joy in deciding what to wear for my trip – and rearranging my luggage so everything would fit, hehe!
Ifrane, a Charming European Town in the Middle of the Atlas Mountains
Aslan (from the movie “Narnia”).
That’s what popped into my mind when I saw a lion statue near Parc la Prairie.
The tour group had a short stop in Ifrane, a charming European-style town located in the middle of the Atlas Mountains.
Due to the cool weather, you will find similar trees and plants that you usually find in the European countries here.

It was December but Ifrane welcomed me with a beautiful autumn view. I love this town!

Todra Gorge, the Grand Canyon of Morocco
I haven’t been to Grand Canyon, but I’ve been to Todra Gorge in Morocco.
Ok, that doesn’t sound pretty related, especially Grand Canyon looks more majestic to me…
However, Todra Gorge, which is located in the eastern part of the Atlas Mountains, is a beautiful destination not to be missed when you travel to Morocco!
You can travel from Tinehir to Todra Gorge with a car or other transportation modes.
The desert and rocks may give the impression that travellers will experience bumpy rides, but rest assured, there’s an asphalt road that leads to the gorge.
Throughout the trip, I traveled on a minibus and find the roads in Morocco are well-maintained.

Morocco, the Land of “The Mummy” and “Prince of Persia”
The Valley of One Thousand Kasbahs is another epic destination that you must visit after adoring the Todra Gorge.
Then, head to Ziz Valley to see stunning palm groves and Erfoud, the “Gate of Sahara Desert”.
Besides “Sex & the City 2” (2010), many Hollywood movies are filmed in Morocco, such as:
- “Lawrence of Arabia” (1962)
- “The Mummy” (1999)
- “Gladiator” (2000)
- “Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time” (2010)
- “Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation” (2015)
If you wish to visit Morocco, December is a good time. There’s so much to see besides the Sahara Desert, Casablanca and Chefchaouen.
Remember to say “tajine” and flash your charming smile before someone snap your photos 😉
