Hello, hello, hello, everyone! I feel excited because Christmas (and my holiday) is coming soon. What about you?
The theme for this week is: tall men.
So yeah, this week, let me take you to Oudsthoorn, the famous ostrich capital in South Africa! Plus Cango Caves and De Zeekoe Guest Farm π
If you read my blog post last week, you’d know that Maksim Mrvica is my childhood crush (saw him on TV when I was around 12 years old).
Did you know that he’s 207 cm tall??
But not only men in Balkans are tall, there are some tall birds on earth like the ostriches (up to 2.7 meters), cassowaries (up to 2 meters), greater rheas (up to 1.5 meters), etc.
Eh? Greater rheas are taller than me? Lol πππ
Then, last Thursday at the office be like…
Me: “Abrar, how tall are you?”
Abrar: “Me? Nah…”
Me: “It’s okay, I want to know! I want to know!”
Abrar: “I’m 192 cm.”
Me: (stood beside him and measured my height) “Wow, I only reach here!”
Abrar: “It’s okay Clara, you’re cute.” π
Me: “Thank you. I hope my idol thinks the same!” π€π€π€
Ostrich Feeding at Oudsthoorn Ostrich Farm, South Africa
Ostriches may be tall, but they’re cute! They have this confused look in their eyes, and if you have animal keychains on your bag… beware!
Their curiousity will lead them to peck your furry keychains. Goodness! Luckily they didn’t peck my head when I took selfies with them πππ
Oudtshoorn is a famous ostrich capital in South Africa. The tour group and I went to an ostrich farm to learn more about these tall birds, fed them, and… ate them.
Yes, it was sad. But if you’re not a vegetarian and have flown from far, far away to South Africa, you wouldn’t want to miss it!
It tasted… like normal meat. No smell at all and it didn’t produce heat.
Now, if you still remember, which one is male and female ostrich?
The answer is… the males are black, the females are grey. Thanks to the difference of their fur colour, both papa and mama can incubate their eggs safely from predators.
Papa ostriches will do the night shifts as its black fur will go unnoticed at night. Mama ostriches will do the morning shifts as the grey colour blends well with the sand or surrounding.
At Oudtshoorn Ostrich Farm, you can also buy some souvenirs like bags, wallets, keychains, belts, etc made from real ostrich leather.
If you’re looking for stuff made of ostrich leather, it’s better to get them at Oudtshoorn Ostrich Farm when in South Africa because they are made from genuine ostrich leather.
How can you tell if an ostrich leather souvenir is fake? Okay, take a look at this photo below:
If you run your hand on the wallet, you’ll feel the bumps. Real ostrich leather would have bumps like the wallet above.
In the souvenir shop, you can also find other ostrich souvenirs like dusters made from ostrich feathers, fashion accessories, and the most popular one: ostrich eggs!
Don’t worry, the ostrich egg souvenirs won’t hatch π
At Oudtshoorn Ostrich Farm, South Africa, you’ll find many beautiful ostrich eggs for table decoration or lamp.
Next, let’s have our exotic lunch: the ostrich steak! The Oudtshoorn Ostrich Farm guided tour and lunch were included in my tour package, which was amazing!
For included lunch, we usually got a three course meal. They’re not grand but tasted good. Oh, wait, my dinner at De Zeekoe Guest Farm was really good, though! ππ

Stalactites and Stalagmites at Cango Caves, South Africa
I don’t know what to write about this place. But I can say that it’s beautiful!
You’ll see outstanding stalactites and stalagmites… At one point, the tour guide will turn off the lights so you can experience what it feels like for those who stayed in the cave, thousand years ago…
*Aladdin mood on* You know, when he went down to the cave to steal the magic lamp π§
There’s no treasure inside the Cango Caves, but the place itself is a treasure! You’re wandering around in one of The Seven Wonders of South Africa β¨
When in Cango Caves, you got to have a little bit of imagination. For example, the tour guide would say something like:
- “Okay, this is the honeymoon chamber. You can see the pillars here, this one is the bed…”
- “On top, there are many small stalactites. So, after 9 months, we can see stalactite babies…”
- “Some would say that these stalactites resembles angels who are descending from heaven…”
So, imagine yourself in an au naturel art gallery. Let the stalactites and stalagmites be the earth’s greatest abstract arts, hehe!

Romantic Stay at De Zeekoe Guest Farm, South Africa
De Zeekoe Guest Farm is a beautiful, romantic hotel in South Africa that won’t break your bank account. I mean it.
For example, De Zeekoe’s room prices* are about:
- Standard room: around ZAR 680 ZAR (RM171 / 39 USD)
- Luxury room: around ZAR 1,140 (RM286 / 65 USD)
- Superior Honeymoon room: around ZAR 1,985 (RM500 / 113 USD)
*prices are per person, per night + breakfast

It may not be a luxury stay but the interior design of the room, the balcony with stunning sunset view, and everything in the hotel is just… romantic.
Dang. #solotraveller π
Oh, wait until I show you the dining room and candlelight dinner.
Luckily, whenever I’m travelling I would bring one or two nice dresses β just in case I would visit nice places or I suddenly have a date (which haven’t happened yet) π
I’m not going to write a lot about De Zeekoe Guest Farm, South Africa, because I’m gonna walk you around the hotel.
Let the video and photos speak for themselves!
I took a lot of photos in De Zeekoe Guest Farm, South Africa, because I liked the interior design and the hotel was close to nature.
I was very happy that the tour group and I arrived around sunset.
Actually, I wanted to take a sunset photo shoot beside the swimming pool, with the tall grass as the background.
But alas, after I finished settled down in my hotel room, the sun has gone. My romantic, natural lighting for photo shoot had gone π₯²
At least, I could take some nice photos of De Zeekoe Guest Farm’s interior design, especially its dining room!
As I mentioned before, the included dinner at De Zeekoe Guest Farm, was really good. To think that it’s an included dinner in the 14-Day South Africa tour package… I’m so happy!
Most of the men wore shirts and the women looked nicer for the candlelight dinner π
Alright, that’s it for this week! I hope you enjoy reading my blog post about Oudtshoorn Ostrich Farm, Cango Caves, and De Zeekoe Guest Farm, South Africa.
