A rainy day reminded me of Moscow back in 2018 and one of my favourite Michael Jackson songs, “Stranger in Moscow”.
After the 4-hour bullet train ride from St.Petersburg to Moscow, my tour group was welcomed by a heavy storm and 4ºC weather.
However, the weather didn’t stop us to explore the city, especially the Red Square thus we continued with the walking tour #dedication
During the tour, the song “Stranger in Moscow” kept playing in my head. I feel it’s beautiful and emotional… although up until now I don’t remember the lyrics. One thing I knew, I was cold!
Even when it was raining heavily and the wind pierced my bones through the few layers of clothes, I enjoyed strolling around the beautiful city. Oh, by the way, Moscow is SAFE 😉
On top of that, the city guide kept his passion burning. He led us through the storm, shared wonderful history and facts about the city.
Moskovsky Railway Station and the Red Square
Moskovsky Railway Station is really beautiful! Writing this blog made me feel grateful that my 2 years of hard work paid off. To be able to set foot in Russia is happiness for me…
Spasibo, my former Russian colleague who translated the visa application form for me!
We stopped for a while in a shopping mall for lunch and a toilet break. It felt so much better inside the mall, plus the interior design was beautiful.

I guess the weather made me so hungry thus I ate a lot! Yummy codfish, chicken soup, grilled wedges and baked eggplant with cheese. The chicken soup reminded me of the Indonesian traditional dish, soto ayam haha…
It was another 4-hour train ride back to my wonderful St.Petersburg. I love the city and couldn’t wait to explore it the day after!
But before that, I decided to try the pancake with red caviar on the train.
I literally was a stranger in Moscow but the city doesn’t make me feel like a stranger. The locals were friendly and willing to help.
They may not smile much, but hey! You can start first and soon the ice will break 🙂
