Why You Should Fear Regret More Than Rejection

Let me ask you a question: which one is scarier – being rejected or wasting months/years feeling regret?

On paper, some of you may say, “of course wasting my time regretting something I didn’t do!”, but when it comes to reality, are you sure?

Last week, I got the oomph, signs, feeling – whatever you call it – to finally ask my crush out for a drink. Like, just to get to know each other.

But before that, I reached out to my no-nonsense guy friend for his opinion. In short, he encouraged me to go for it.

“It’s 1-in-9-billion-people luck, you are the performer. Go for it!”

After weeks of guessing, thinking that I received ‘green lights’ and ‘positive signs’, battling myself emotionally weighing the pros and cons, I finally decided that it had to stop. I had to get the answer so I could move on with my life, without ‘what ifs’ at the back of my mind.

As you can guess, it didn’t end with rainbows. He was already seeing someone else.

Did I feel sad? Surprisingly… no.

Did I feel disappointed? A little bit.

Did I feel relieved? HELL YEAH!!!

Finally, I have 1 less thing to think about. I guess the feeling of finally knowing the truth outweighed the sadness or disappointment. I feel so free…

Rejected? That’s Okay, You’ve Tried!

Whether it’s about a relationship or career, remember that even if you get rejected, you’ve done well. You’ve taken one step forward (that’s progress!). It’s just, unfortunately, the opportunity isn’t for you.

Now, maybe you have someone that you’ve been thinking about? Reach out to him/her.

Or maybe you want to reconcile with a long-lost friend or relatives? Come on, it’s Covid-19 season… Go for it before it’s too late.

Or a job vacancy that you want to apply to but are unsure if you’re qualified for? Just do it, you have nothing to lose!

Just like the famous love coach, Matthew Hussey, said in his video One Mindset to Conquer Rejection:

“Don’t waste months or years of your life being scared because of one rejection. Don’t let someone control your life. The person you’re hurting is yourself.

Always remind yourself that you can sleep at night knowing that you’ve tried. But the thing that keeps you up at night is knowing that you didn’t put yourself out there.

Because you know no rejection is gonna be painful as regret you will feel later on.

Now I’m standing in the light / Everything’s gonna be alright

Have a great and healthy week, friends! Remember… GO FOR IT! ???
