Stay at Home Virtual Tour: Cuban Casa (Homestay)

Although the MCO (Movement Control Order) in Malaysia is less strict now, I’m still staying at home most of the time. I’ve no idea what to write until #stayathome itself becomes the inspiration!

This week, let me take you on a virtual tour of Cuba! I’ll show you how staying in local casas (houses) or homestays will make your trip more memorable.

I stayed in Cuba for 15 days. It’s a pretty long holiday because I didn’t want to go there just to Havana. I wanted to know more about the history and culture. I wanted to see other cities too.

I guess you’d do the same when you have to sit on a plane for almost 24 hours. Plus, the flight ticket was around RM6,000+! So I made sure the trip was worth it.

Cuba Virtual Tour – Beautiful, Comfy Casa and Friendly Hosts

In Cuba, there are more casa than hostels. The locals are allowed to rent the rooms in their houses to travellers.

When looking for a casa in Cuba, make sure that it’s registered. This means the family is paying taxes to the government.

All registered casa are identified with a symbol like you can see in the photo below:

Here’s another virtual tour of Cuban casa in Trinidad, a colonial old town in central Cuba. Don’t be fooled by the size of the door!

Most of the casa that I stayed at were huge, just like my rooms. But unfortunately, the mosquitos were also huge LOL… So, remember to bring a mosquito spray when you visit Cuba. De nada 😉

Now I’ll show you the casa that I stayed in Santiago. This casa is different than the first two, it has modern interior design.

I chose Cuban Adventures because it fits my budget. As it’s a budget group tour, they arranged for us to stay in casa. It turned out to be a great decision!

By the way, this stay-at-home virtual tour isn’t a paid blog post. I just miss travelling and the memory popped into my mind 🙂

Stay at Home and Enjoy Your Breakfast at the Rooftop Like Cubans

The rooftops in Cuba are spacious. If you have open space on the rooftop, why not have your breakfast there like Cubans?

Instead of utilising the space just for drying your clothes, have a change of scenery for breakfast + sunbathe at the same time!

Typical rooftop breakfast in Cuba consists of bread, omelet, jams, cheese, fruits, milk, tea, juice and coffee. I really enjoyed my simple, healthy breakfast.

Ok amigos, I hope you enjoy my Cuban casa virtual tour. If you have no urgent matter, please be patient and stay at home. The more we cooperate, the sooner we can travel again! Cheers~
